چکیده
Recent findings have revealed that not only neurons but also astrocytes, a special type of glial cells, are major players neuronal information processing. It is now widely accepted they contribute to the regulation their microenvironment by cross-talking with via gliotransmitters. In this context, we here study phenomenon vibrational resonance in considering interaction astrocytes. Our analysis neuron–astrocyte pair reveals intracellular dynamics astrocytes can induce double effect weak signal detection performance neuron, exhibiting two distinct wells centred at different high-frequency driving amplitudes. We identify underlying mechanism behaviour, showing separated time scales neurons, and signals key factor for emergence control resonance. Vibrational coupled cluster theory.
The theory and first implementation of a vibrational coupled cluster (VCC) method for calculations of the vibrational structure of molecules is presented. Different methods for introducing approximate VCC methods are discussed including truncation according to a maximum number of simultaneous mode excitations as well as an interaction space order concept is introduced. The theory is tested on c...
متن کاملVibrational resonance in neuron populations.
In this paper different topologies of populations of FitzHugh-Nagumo neurons have been introduce to investigate the effect of high-frequency driving on the response of neuron populations to a subthreshold low-frequency signal. We show that optimal amplitude of high-frequency driving enhances the response of neuron populations to a subthreshold low-frequency input and the optimal amplitude depen...
متن کاملVibrational resonance and vibrational propagation in excitable systems
We report the occurrence of vibrational resonance in excitable systems. Namely, we show that an optimal amplitude of the high-frequency driving enhances the response of an excitable system to a low-frequency signal. The phenomenon is confirmed in an excitable electronic circuit and in the FitzHugh–Nagumo model. In this last case we also analyze the influence of additive noise and the interplay ...
متن کاملVibrational resonance, allostery, and activation in rhodopsin-like G protein-coupled receptors
G protein-coupled receptors are a large family of membrane proteins activated by a variety of structurally diverse ligands making them highly adaptable signaling molecules. Despite recent advances in the structural biology of this protein family, the mechanism by which ligands induce allosteric changes in protein structure and dynamics for its signaling function remains a mystery. Here, we prop...
